For Families

For the person holding it all together.

A spouse. A parent. An adult child. The one who finally Googles things at 11pm. You are doing the work of a case manager that nobody assigned to you. Here is how to get a real prescriber on the phone, in plain language.

i.What to know first

A few things worth knowing.

  • Your loved one has to be the one who books and shows up, or there is consent in place. We cannot enroll someone against their will.
  • For adults, you can only share information about them with their written permission. That said, you can always share information with us -- a phone call to give context is welcome.
  • This is a psychiatric medication and addiction medicine practice. Not detox, not residential, not crisis. If your person is in immediate danger, call 988 or 911.
  • The first appointment is the easiest one to have. The phone call before it is the hardest.

ii.How to start

A short roadmap.

Call us first

(219) 444-7946. Ask your questions. You do not need to commit to anything to call. Get a sense of fit.

Get the guide

A free free PDF written for families and referrers: what bridge care is, what visits look like, what to ask, what to expect. Download here.

Have the conversation

Share the guide and the phone number with your person. Booking the appointment is theirs to do; framing it as their next step, not your demand, usually helps.

Stay involved with consent

Once your person is enrolled, a release of information allows ongoing coordination if they choose. Many patients find that family inclusion -- on their terms -- supports recovery.

A real person answers the phone.

No phone tree. No portal-only. Calling first is the right move.
